A Mashup is a web application created using the public interface or API of two or more third party applications.

A cool web services tool is using the GoogleMAP API to link underlying mapdata with geographically linked data. It is a great example of the power ofweb services ( and workflow). It is ideal for any application that wants tomap data to geographical positions e.g network maps, Quilt and GLIF maps,customer data etc, etc.

There are concerns about Mashing, because it indicates the non-negotiated use of two or more data sites to create your content. And there is absolutely no guarantee that they will either continue to provide a data stream you can use, or that they won't modify the stream, and break a lot of your application

However,some of the best mash up websites are listed in BusinessWeek, "Sampling the Web's Best Mash-Ups".

Recently, I was looking for self publishing resources.. One that attracts me a lot , www.Lulu.com, lets you publish and sell and print on demand books, eBooks, online music, images, custom calendars and books.. Also , I found that Amazon.com recently acquired BookSurge.com, another online print on demand service.
But lulu.com attracted me a lot. it has no set-up fees and no minimum order. Unlike amazon.com, Lulu.com's software automatically takes care of fulfillment (the printing, the mailing), so the book is never touched by a human hand.
It is interesting that the CEO of lulu.com is Bob Young, co-founder of Red Hat. Kudos to Bob Young. Its a great site for self publishing.

I am an ardent user of linux. Now a days, Linux are more preferred in terms of security in most companies. Recent ZDNet's blogs states this :
